1) Heroin: for me is a song sung by Lou Reed, maybe Velvet Underground stuff. It is also a very dangerous and addictive drug, that you have to inject into a vein. Maybe you can take it orally or smoke it. It is better to listen to the song than to take the drug, I guess.
2) Hero: A long time ago I was watching a friend, playing a computer game. It was a strategy game about world war two. He pointed at a infantry unit in a North African town, that was surrounded by twenty enemy units, including tanks, aircraft and artillery. He said: "That's what I call heroes". In the next turn, the infantry unit was gone.
3) Holy Grail: A cup that was filled with the blood of Jesus Christ. It is also a metaphor for a miraculous device, fetish or object of desire, that maybe exists, but is impossible to get. It is also in the title of a brilliant Monty Pythons movie.
4) Healing: This is for me the process of getting whole after being split into many pieces. In Austria only medical institutions may do this. All others are not allowed. Healing yourself is mainly regarded as useful but also seen as utter madness. It is also the process of coming home to yourself or your self.
5) Hurricane: You are like one.
6) Hitler: Is the gold standard of being an evil dictator. All contemporary adepts such as Mr.T, Mr. P., Mr E. and all the mediocre European successors like Mr. K and so on are gladly far from reaching his totalitarian achievements. Unfortunately the means and methods of regimes have become more sophisticated and subtle.
7) Hydrogen: Can be used in bombs as well as in water. This is a nice metaphor for all technology.
8) Hinduism: Is a western word for religious projects in the South of Asia. It is more than what you can capture in a word. As it is with religion, this includes complete morons as well as true saints and yogis, enlightened ones and blind ones. It costs more money than Buddhism and is more friendly to the concept of the soul.
9) Hiroshima: From that day on it became clear, that we have it in our hands to become extinct very quickly.
10) Hippo: Finally an animal is in the list of my top ten H words. It beat Handke, Hendrix and Hemmingway. Maybe it is large enough to eat all three of them. Maybe it is more realistic that it tramples them to death. I think it looks much nicer than it is. For myself it is the other way round ;-)
